It’s time to register for the team events of the 2025 Canadian Bridge Championships.
The round robin stage of all team events will be played online in January and February 2025.

Canadian Teams at the 16th World Bridge Games

In 2024, 16th World Bridge Games are held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from October 22 to November 3. Canada’s top teams compete against the world’s best bridge players in a series of challenging matches!
The Senior team Jacob made it through to the Round of 16. They defeated Poland 97-86, and will play India in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Canadian teams: Team Bart (Open), Team Jacob (Senior), Team Thomson (Women), Team Fourcaudot (Mixed).

2025 Junior Trials

The 2025 Junior Trials will be held December 28 – 30. The Trials will be played online (on RealBridge) to cater to out-of-Ontario players. Players in the Greater Toronto Area are to bring a device (such as a laptop or iPad – not a phone) and meet at the Mississauga-Oakville Bridge Center.
Times will be determined at a later date. Lunch, drinks and snacks will be provided. The $10 registration fee covers three days of bridge play.
The CBF is planning to send two teams to the 2025 World Championships next summer. If you have any questions please email Andy Stark at juniors@cbf.ca.

2024 Erin Berry National Results

Congratulations to Rich Grieman and Mark Cherry from Regina Bridge Club who scored the highest result in the Erin Berry Master-Novice game, with 70.46%. They were closely followed by Wendy Dooley and Nancy Nicowski from Mississauga Oakville Bridge Club, who scored 70.12%.

CBF Online (BBO) CNTC / COPC Qualifiers

The CBF games on BBO for the remainder of the year will serve as qualifiers for the CNTC and COPC. Join the team game on Tuesday, November 12, 8:00 p.m. EST. Register on BBO.
You can also qualify at your COPC/CNTC sanctioned club game (extra MPs) to ensure you are eligible to play in the Canadian Team Championship (CNTC -A, B, C) or COPC. No qualification is required for the other team events (CWTC, CSTC, CMTC), but you are all welcome to take part in these matches scheduled between September and December 2024.

Online Team League 2024-2025

We will once again play our Online Team League on BBO.
There will be 2 divisions if there are sufficient entries: Open and B (under 2,000 points as of Sept. 2024 ACBL report). Please join us for the 2024/25 seasion of the CBF Team League and read all about this frendly competition on the Online Team League page (under Events).
The registration deadline for the 2024-2025 season is September 30, 2024.
There will be a zoom training session on Monday, September 30 at 8:00 p.m. Est. to review team game strategy and BBO set-up for team games.
The Round Robin schedule begins the week of October 13 and runs until December 31, 2024. Playoffs will be scheduled for January/February 2025.

The Great Canadian Bidding Contest – December 2024 Problems

You can review the last set of problems in the September 2024 issue of Bridge Canada, along with the answers and comments of the expert panel. For the last set of problems, Keith Balcombe and Danny Miles tied for the top panelist score of 47, followed closely by Ray Hornby with 46. Sheldon Spiers, back from a short hiatus, topped the readers, followed by Fred Lerner.
